Agnieszka Smarzewska (1987) is a writer, editor and translator of Latvian and Lithuanian literature into Polish. She has a master's degree in Baltic Philology from Warsaw University (2011). During her studies she atended Latvian and Lithuanian language courses in Vilnius (2009) and Riga (2010). Her translations of Latvian and Lithuanian poetry and prose, including the poetry of interwar period (Aleksandrs Čaks, Austra Skujiņa), have been published mostly in polish literary magazines. In 2019 she translated a poetry book Lieldienas [Wielkanoc] by Inga Gaile. The book was nominated for the European Poet of Freedom Literary Award. Next to translating she writes prose, mostly short stories. She also publishes articles about Baltic and Nordic literature, culture and marketing for online magazine „Przegląd Bałtycki” (Baltic Insight). She lives in Warsaw.
