Alexander Zapol (known also as Semyon Khanin, 1970) is a translator of Latvian poetry into Russian, a poet writing in Russian and editor of numerous poetry collections of Russian and Latvian poets. He has translated several Latvian poets: Kārlis Vērdiņš, Māris Salējs, Marts Pujāts and Pēteris Draguns, included in an athology Par mums/ За нас. His latest translation of Krišjānis Zeļģis poetry was just published by a Russian publishing house "Book institute".
He was the compiler of the antologyLatviešu/krievu dzeja. Latviešu dzejnieku krievu valodā rakstīti dzejoļi (Latvian/Russian poetry. Poems in Russian written by Latvian poets) and co-editor (together with Artūrs Punte) of the anthology Современная русская поэзия Латвии.1985 – 2005 (Contemporary Russian Poetry in Latvia: 1985 – 2005).
