Pēteris Pūrītis, born in 1970, is a prose writer and journalist. In the 1990's, he was a member of the new-wave band Parks, and worked in music journalism, later has worked in marketing and advertising. He was also ran for parliament as a member of the Pēdējā partija political party. In 2006, Pūrītis' first novel titled Kōknesis was published by Dienas Grāmata. In the summer of 2007, he participated in the European European Festival of the First Novel in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. His prose is best characterised as playful and witty, tackling of the absurdity through political satire, unexpected points of view and deviations in both form and plot. Pūrītis writes prose, and occasionally publishes political commentary.
